Trees are good for you :-)

Even for Charlie Brown.

"As if you really needed another reason to hug a tree: Scientists writing in the journal Ecological Modeling say trees in big cities deliver more than $500 million in environmental benefits every year.
A tree is a marvel of biology. Unfussed by the pull of gravity, it sucks water upward; unembarrassed by its resourcefulness, it makes food out of the waste gases we leave behind. And that’s just what it does for itself; for us, it does even more, cleaning our air, beautifying our neighborhoods, improving our health and well-being, reducing our energy use, and helping us beat the heat."

Having grown up on the west side of the PNW - always surrounded by trees - you can bet we planted a lot of trees on our property.

Eclipse traffic

This picture was taken yesterday, the 18th. Traffic in eastern Oregon.
I have a friend who will be in Bend, Oregon, 99%, they have an elderly relative and being safe is their main concern.
My brother is headed to the Camp Sherman area, S and E of Mt. Jefferson. Being a photographer he should get some good pictures.
They are warning us here, in SE WA, to fill up with gas as they worry all the travelers will suck it all up.
We will have a 96% eclipse here.
I saw a full one in 1979. A dark, gray rainy day turned dark and then went back to dark gray and rainy. :-) We were in Pullman, home of WSU, at the time.
Good luck to all, be safe and have clear skies.

Smoke

Seattle. Looks the same over here. Can't see past our subdivision. Even trees on our block are blurred.
Most of the smoke is from my home province - British Columbia. And it is all over Washington. Most likely until Saturday. Are we having fun yet?
