Saving the planet on my deck

A single azolla plant is smaller than your little fingernail. When I bought this cattail plant it had one azolla plant on it. It has filled the entire barrel pond.
This little plant saved the planet once and may again.

Happy doggies :-)

Abby, left, and Tar, right, and one of their many buddies at our temporary dog park while the big one gets expanded and the turf recovers.

Well, this is embarrassing -

Cow stuck in an irrigation canal. Local police helped her out.

We had Weather

But only one fire. Picture was sent in to one of the tv stations. Doggies did okay. A bit worried so stayed close. Lots of heavy rain. Have yet to check on the gnomes...

May is... Volcano Month!

On Twitter this morning:
"May is in State.
Are you ready for an eruption?"

Not really....

Pictured Mt. St. Helens, which last had a major eruption in 1980,
and Mt. Rainier.
Also 'active' Mt. Adam's (closer to us) and Mt. Baker, up by the girls
in NW WA.

We were in Southern Idaho when Mt. St. Helens went up. I have a funny
letter from a 7-yr-old niece at the time. She described her day and proceeded
to write, in all caps - THEN THE ASH FELL!!!
