Heron chicks

The Seattle Times photo
Picture published in Seattle paper.
Fun fact. If heron chicks are alone in a nest and a raccoon starts to climb
their tree to hurt them - the chicks will lean over the side of the nest
and vomit on the raccoon.
(I wrote a book about a natural pond for the nieces and nephews and you
can bet I included that - illustrated even :-)

I can just see your illustration to that! Didn't know that though. I have not seen any bird heron at the lake this year...but there well hidden Im sure.

Such graceful birds; I came across a Great blue Heron while hiking Bodega Head many years ago and stood dumbfounded as it just lifted up from the ground and flew away.

Interesting factoid. The visual image in my head is ...well.....colorful. I do believe human babies also have this ability when placed in the hands of someone wearing nice clothes. No doubt, the nice clothes are the trigger...

I thought you were going to write that they peck at the raccoon. This, though, is much more interesting.

Hey whatever you gotta do to keep those raccoons away.
