Sasquatch Academics

In one of my many careers I worked as a graphic artist. One of my jobs was to draw maps for a magazine. In a reference map I was thrilled to find a Here Be Sasquatch icon. You can bet I transferred it to the map I was preparing for the magazine.

And now a university professor is backing the believers up!

"The lack of skeletal remains of Sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest is readily explainable, said Jeff Meldrum, an Idaho State University anthropology professor, in R Thursday night.
His talk at the annual meeting of the CBB Club — “Do hidden creatures live in the Pacific Northwest?” — attracted a sold-out crowd of 130 people, a record number for the club.
He’s taken a look at what he believes is the scientific DNA and forensic evidence gathered on Sasquatch in his book Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science."

The reason we have not found remains - "In the wet coniferous soils of the places they might live, any remains not chewed up by animals would disintegrate quickly in the soil.
How many of those in the room had ever found bones from creatures that were far more common, he asked. A bear skull? A wolverine skull? No hands went up."

How to unite the Dems and the GOP

Common Core.
Both sides of the legislature have independently come to the conclusion that they want WA state to try and pry this system out of our schools.
That's a political miracle!
By the way, we are currently being fined millions of Federal dollars because we are out of compliance with No Child Left Behind.

Garden Gnome Fans Fret: SkyMall Files for Bankruptcy

Well, you know that caught our attention.
That is the actual headline.

Apparently airline passengers have found better things to occupy themselves during their flights.
SkyMall is filing for bankruptcy.
"SkyMall filed for Chapter 11 protection in U.S. bankruptcy court. In the filing, the company said it has $1 million to $10 million in assets but $10 million to $50 million in liabilities."

That's a lot of gnomes.

This an EX-whale!

A deceased whale has turned up under the Washington state ferry terminal in downtown Seattle.
The ferry people have no idea how it got there.
The ferry people say it is not their problem to remove it.
The ferry people say the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration should remove the whale...

The whale has passed on. The whale is no more. The whale has ceased to be. The whale has expired and gone to meet its maker. The whale is a stiff. Bereft of life, the whale rests in peace.  Its metabolic processes are now hstory. The whale has kicked the bucket, it has shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleeding choir invisible. THIS IS AN EX-WHALE!

The whale is now starting to smell....

Good morning, Human...

Our good friend Michael at McGlinn's Public House took this great shot of an eagle eyeballing him from high in a tree in the Wenatchee area.

We've got chilly temperatures across the state today, and we'll see high winds and rain in Western Washington, with up to 16 inches of snow in the mountains over the weekend: kng5.tv/1xDh4Jg

omg! Seahawks

Most of yesterday's game was spent in disappointment and resignation.
I called my parents at half time and my Dad had decided it was a good time
for a nap.
And then, at the very end, a couple bloody miracles occurred.
That had to be the craziest game we've ever seen.
And the Seahawks are going to the Super Bowl. Again.

This is unbelievable but thankfully true

This accident happened just South of us. Family travels this road a lot coming up to the farm and The Engineer travels it going down to a scout ranch.

20 car pileup on Interstate 84 in Oregon. Chevy Silverado was reduced to the size of a telephone booth.  Driver walked away unharmed.

Nobody was seriously injured in this incident.

I'm mailing my sister-in-law an empty egg carton...

The Engineer's sister and brother-in-law are part of a large family farm. They have chickens who lay eggs for their use and spend a lot of time roaming SIL's huge vegetable garden looking for tasty bugs.

These eggs were $5.99 at the grocery store. (Usual price range from $2.89 to $3.99).
These chickens WERE RAISED WITH RESPECT! The eggs are ETHICAL! The hens are HAPPY!

This just cracked me up. I know factory chickens live a pretty miserable life. Bless their hearts for treating their chickens well. Though the cost of this four color carton could probably buy each chicken a weekly massage.

When you drive out to The Engineer's work

you have to watch for tumble weeds, potential unscrupulous individuals, ground hogs, rattlesnakes and elk. Aren't they handsome?

Abby hates squirrel breeding season

Five of them dared to cavort on her fence. It took much barking, foul language and vague threats of violence to get them to go into the neighbor's yard to continue the romance wars.

Do not underestimate Mother Nature

I-90, which is the way most of us get to the west side of the state, is constantly monitored, blasted, worked, reworked for slide potential and avalanches. It doesn't always work. Then there are elk, moose and deer to watch out for. Youngest is going over in a couple of days to see his brother and SIL.2.b. Deeeeep breathing.
