Space Needle fireworks

A rather alarming job. Getting fireworks ready to shoot off the Space Needle in Seattle.  Scary but the view is spectacular. :-)
Happy New Year to you and yours. Stay safe, stay warm and cozy.
(Abby sez happy new year to the cats even.)

more traveling adventures

Due to heavy snow fall and high avalanche danger, the pass will remain closed until daylight hours from North Bend to Ellensburg.
(Now pass is closed in the daylight hours.)

So... Eldest, DIL and Youngest and doggy got caught in this. They got turned around went back west and decided to get something to eat. They were thinking about going south and come up the Columbia River road in Oregon. We said, oh, why not go home and get some rest (this was about 10pm). Got up this morning and there was their car in front of the house.... not sure when they got in but hope they sleep in a long time.
(update - 3.30am this morning was the time of their arrival)

And I love tow truck drivers too!!

So the girls got over the pass thanks to the wonderful truck driver who helped them put on their chains. Then a light came on in the car. Pull over to the rest stop. Get out the owner's manual. Bad light to be on. Then the car would only run in reverse. Okay, really bad. Called AAA. 1-3 hours, understandable as 3/4 of the state was in a state of weather crisis.

Tow truck driver arrived. Got the car loaded up. Then a lady, in distress, came along and asked if he could help get their car back on the road at the rest stop's entrance back onto the highway. Tow truck driver said okay. And he tried, bless his heart. Turns out they were in a ditch. And..... tow truck eventually ended up in the ditch too with Daughter's car on the back.

Tow truck driver had to call a tow truck.

(The Engineer picked up the girls where they left the car to be fixed (2 hours from here) and they all got home at 11pm. A five hour trip turned into 15 hour trip. Eldest, DIL and Youngest will try the trip on Wednesday!)

I love truck drivers!!!

The girls (daughter and emergency back up daughter #2) decided to drive over the pass today.
(worry, worry, worry). They will not let you drive over unless you have chains on. So they
bought chains and a very nice, very wonderful truck driver helped them put them on. They
are over the pass. Still have a smaller pass to get over. Only about 50-ish or so miles that
do not have snow at this point on our side. Boys and DIL are planning to drive on Wednesday.
Crossing all fingers and toes.

eldest on a trike at 30...

Eldest on a trike at work (he's in the middle)... Now for a word for his sponsor. I rarely post anything identifying-ly personal on my pages. But this is the company Eldest works for  - a startup that is doing really well.

high speed chase with cows

Montana wanted their wayward criminal back so local deputies went off to arrest him.
Resulted in a high speed chase thru several cow pastures and two counties.
Eventually he was caught and all cows returned to their pastures.

they tossed a coin

We had a school board race so close they were mandated by law to recount it.
And they did.
The race was tied!
At 6,178 votes each!
So they tossed a coin. One candidate was sworn in. They are both worthy and
expect the opponent will stay involved in school issues.

wildlife wednesday

The Engineer's plant is out on the very large former weapons reservation. While patrolling the area security comes across all sorts of animals. Here is a badger going about his business.
