How to recycle - well, maybe

The recycle sack is five inches to the right.
The family leaves the recycling on the counter.
The city asks us to rinse and squash milk cartons, then put the lid back on.
The cereal has to be emptied of little bits, the plastic bag taken out and the
boxes opened and squashed.
Sometimes I leave it there while it gathers and gathers but it does not
seem move the residents from 'mom will do it'....

yikes, we don't have to flatten anything!

we have a once-per-week collection, in a large wheeled can, single stream (paper, cans, glass, plastics all mixed together) recycling program. this can goes out every week; my trash can goes out once-per-month. I make more recycling than trash!

PS - put the gnomes to work on the recycling to earn their beer!

It's the same at our house, except I'm the one who leaves it on the counter, and Carlos is the one who takes it to the bins in the garage!

i always wash our recycling out because i feel bad for the sorter at the main plant- we also just put everything in the big wheeled bucket and i think sorting the plastics from the cardboard/ paper would SUCK as far as full time jobs go.

@mrs - we must wash out cans and glass also. our trash company hires the developmentally delayed to do the sorting; the employees love having a job/spending money and the employer is giving back to our community.

Here is Bucks, we have the same program as Anne Marie, and must rinse out bottles and cans. I do crush the boxes down just to make room. We don't have to separate anything otherwise.

Totally getcha on this one! Same thing happens at my house. I sometimes wonder if the recycle box is invisible to all except me!
