Mt. St. Helens

Current Mt. St. Helens
35 years ago today. 57 people died.
Makeshift filtering system so first responders could do their job.

We were in Southern Idaho at the time. One of my young nieces wrote us a letter with all the
doings of that day and then she wrote "THEN THE ASH FELL!!!"
My MIL went out and scooped up some ash in a little bottle and sent it to us.
We visited the volcano when the kids were younger. Amazing site.

Carlos and I went earlier this century--God, that makes us sound old!--and were surprised at the landscape still looking so devastated and barren.

I visited in 1990; unbelievable how scarred the landscape looked, and how quiet everything was. an amazing site for sure.

I lived in Tacoma at the time. Remember feeling all the quakes.... And the ash. Though we were lucky and didn't get the fallout that the eastern part of the state received.
