Another sign of spring - Sandhill Cranes

They stop in Eastern Washington about an hour north of us on their way to Alaska for the summer.

I have a fondness for Sandhill Cranes. Some of them spend the summers in the Valley where I grew up in Southern Colorado. The old saying was, 'when the cranes return, it is Spring'. I remember going on drives with my Mom to see the flock. And we would always hope to see the occasional whooping crane which had been raised by the Sandhill Crane. Wildlife officials would take Whooping Crane eggs and put them in the nests of the Sandhill Cranes to raise, hoping to increase the population of Whooping Cranes.
My DIL, who works for the State Fish & Game Dept. just returned from there where she attended the annual Sandhill Crane festival.

We were up in the high 70s and low 80s the past three days. Today will be 49 and damp.

I need the cranes to drop a little Spring on the SC.
