bureaucracy n. The application of order to prevent active chaos, resulting in inactive chaos.

Today the city sent us our utility bill.
It included helpful hints for saving energy during the summer.

- Do not use heat generating appliances during the day such as
washing and drying clothes, ironing, showering, cooking or
washing dishes.

- Do not use any energy during peak hours from 5pm to 7pm.

so if you work all day, when are you supposed to get anything done? and since when is the shower an appliance?

Ha Ha! I used to laugh at those kinds of things, thinking 'how dumb does the utility company think people are?'. But then I encountered some people who had had absolutely no idea and those 'useful' hints & tips really were useful. (and those people are the ones who will later run the utility company or local gov't)
And those quotes! Marvelous! I have bookmarked the page for later use..... :0)
