The craziness of Thanksgiving....

Today we woke up to Tar and Abby committing grand theft.
They found $120 in Daughter's purse and shredded/ate it.
(That brings their lifetime total to $310...)
We cleaned up and sat down with coffee to recover and
Tar saunters into the living room with a bra in his mouth.
Totally cracked us up.
Bless his larcenous heart.

Betrayal!!

Predicted to be a hard winter so I hung a basket in the pine tree where The Squirrel lives and occasionally put some nuts in there. Walnuts, almonds, pecans in their shells.

Abby is horrified.
A well fed squirrel is hard to catch.
Not that she has ever caught one but a doggy can hope.

turkey fortress

Smart bird. The gnomes will probably have to look forward to leftovers from our table.

For big dogs

Always trying to find toys that don't end up under the sofa. Brought these home this morning. Not sure where they are right now....

maybe the gnomes won't have to go on the hunt

Today three geese looked like they were prepared to jump into the van with us.
(only the feral farm geese follow us around like this - the ducks and Canada Geese are more dignified
about the whole affair)

Pond vs Labrador

Pond lost.
Survived three kids, the neighborhood tribe, three other dogs, numerous frogs and turtles - but Tar managed to degrade the sides and started falling in. This time the liner was damaged. Remodeling will happen.

Top Chef.... sigh

We love Top Chef. We put up with the lovingly edited shots of whatever car they are pushing and the sponsored quick fire challenges - a show's got make money.

But last night, for the elimination challenge, for a table full of executive chefs, the contestants had to use cream cheese (sponsored by The Company Who Shall Not Be Named). Is it any wonder that the three chefs who ended up on the chopping block all were the ones who had to do entrees?

The Latest Challenge

In the years since the twins were born I've earned money by writing magazine articles, teaching adults and kids, before and after school care for the neighborhood tribe and selling items at craft shows/stores. The hardest to do was the craft stuff.
In the beginning I hung baskets from the ceiling to store it away from little people. I moved to the windowless furnace room in this house. When the kids were older I had a corner of the family room. That corner often got taken over by the creative problem solving teams we hosted and coached. Then the punk rock band drums were set up in the corner. After the band went to college GB set up his Computer Central Command Station here. You can still see some of it to the right.
I almost had it back to mine, all mine!
Then we made the mistake of trying to move the world's oldest and heaviest hide-a-bed out to whomever wants it - Goodwill, CraigsList, Dump. It got stuck. One male and three females and we could not move it out.
So it sits. Waiting for GB and Eldest to be home for Thanksgiving. Maybe some of their friends also home. And my brother-in-law.
Maybe a chain saw.
(Goes without saying that is Abby on Squirrel Alert.)

off to the chicken races!

Cracked me up.
I've fallen to Pinterest. It is a nice way to see gardens when your own is being dormant.
Apparently this is a thing to keep chickens safe from predators or off the kids' play equipment.

a new project

To keep me sane in the holiday season. I've finished another book for my ten nieces and nephews at the fabulous Bookemon
Now I'm going to teach myself paper engineering with The Pocket Paper Engineer. Basically pop-upsHere.
There are three books in the series. Out of college I spent a lot of years with an exacto knife in my hands (magazines and newspapers) so this feels like old times. I took two co-workers to the ER with self induced exacto injuries so hoping that I can still avoid skewering myself.
