another storm, another big branch down

The first damage at the end of August.
Tree guys had a disagreement about if the damaged branch should come down.
So it stayed...
So Mother Nature took it down last night.
This storm is all part of the big monsoon type storms that have been hitting the PNW this weekend.
Call into the tree guys.

always try and live next to a fireman

Yesterday I drove into our driveway with smoke pouring out the front of Madame Van.
Having a fireman living across the street is very handy at times...

how many days until October?

Since my favorite nursery/gifty shop has put up a Christmas tree (in fall colors but still...) I gave the gnomes permission to bury their collection of corpses (don't ask) in the pumpkin patch.

either kitty litter has super powers

or I compromised the shop vac when I emptied the canister...

the kitties are gone

Sigh......  The black kitty got adopted, by a former adoptee pet parent and the calico kitty went to a new foster home. We miss them. We don't miss the itchies, sneezes and asthma issues. But they were just so darn cute.
Abby is going from GB's room to Eldest's room making sure the kitties are not magically reappearing. Will be interesting to see how long that lasts. She is no longer sedated for night time.
Bless the pet rescue people. We will be making another donation come Christmas.

The glue gun

has been put on the check list for officially dangerous weapons.
Especially around kittens.
Putting all craft stuff away for the duration of the Occupation of the Kittens.
Kittens are being shown at a PetsMart on Sunday.
Tar is going a bit nuts now.
Abby has to be drugged to sleep
The Engineer's allergies are acting up.
Daughter's allergies are acting up.
Mine are starting to remember.
Last night I had a dream that I took them to the pet store showing and
ended up in a helicopter over Afghanistan.
Pray for us.

your daily duck

Daughter and I usually do a circuit along this river walk and then around the duck pond before we feed the geese and ducks. This fellow was waiting for us today on the river side like he was chiding us to hurry up and get our walk done.

here it comes!

Storm that hit our area last night. Could hardly see our neighbors. Lots of power out. Picture by resident Bill Cartwright. Link to our paper here. We live in SE WA.

GB and today's game

Team won again this week. Their first home game. That's my baby, looking like Duck Dynasty, on the right.

candy corn zombie

Wow! This zombie was made by Andrew Bell and he has more stuff here -  Creatures in My Head
and a shop :-)
It is almost fall. So really not pushing Halloween. Really.

Abby approves of flying frogs and rockets

Been going around the interwebz---

"A poor frog found itself a little too close to a NASA rocket launch and ended up getting blasted into the air. (And yes, NASA confirms this is a REAL photo)"

Abby is being held hostage!

The squirrels have taken over the bird house Eldest made a long time ago. They have captured and are holding Abby hostage.
(Kitty Update: Abby's wished for snack foods are doing well. We find out the results of the ringworm test this week. Once again, how do I get myself into these things?)

Tar

Sometimes Tar stands at the top of the deck stairs and barks until we go out and invite him in thru the open deck slider. We are not sure why he does this. Maybe Abby is sending out Crabby Vibes and he does not want to disturb her highness.

Mom! Abby has gone around the bend. Again

Abby has discovered the kitties are downstairs in Eldest bedroom. They frolic on his bed, watch and sniff the world go by thru his window. They now have a scratching board, more toys and three boxes which seem to be a very important part in the cat world.
Our asthmatics are not doing so good. Daughter has had to use her rescue inhaler twice, GB multiple times while he was here. He had to leave the house twice (luckily he has lots of friends who always willing to go to Starbucks, gym, bars, restaurants).
Our cat people have not been in contact regarding moving them. I am getting to my wit's end. The Engineer is going to call the couple we know in the cat rescue world.

Whoever said -

'a woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle' was WRONG.
I can not get this open. I looked for clues with a magnifying glass.
I ran a knive along all seams.
I tried getting the knive into any orifice.
I TOOK THE HAMMER TO THE DAMN THING.
I can not get it open.
AND DON'T SAY IT IS PROBABLY SUPER GLUED CLOSED
because I would have to do you seriously bodily harm.
The Engineer is due back tonight.
He will open it.
He must open it.
It is was God invented men for, right?

and then there was a storm

Coming in over wheat fields to the south of us. It was a doozy.

The Genius of Dogs

Reading this. The Genius of Dogs.

Author writes of an experiment where a dog is shown food, toys and a few other objects which results in the dog pressing a corresponding key on a keyboard. Shown kibble the dog presses 'food'. Shown a toy, like a stuffed animal, the dog presses 'toy'.

Shown a live hamster the dog rushed to the keyboard and pressed 'food'.

This explains a lot about Abby.

I have also outgrown the sofa

Luckily Mom and Dad have a king sized bed that is just right. As long as I don't have to share it.

meet our new overlords

GB is home for the weekend and took these pictures.
Kitties are in Eldest's room downstairs so Abby has two doors between her plans to consume them.
She is doing better and getting along on a quarter of sedation meds a day.
Calico kitty goes in for spaying on Tuesday.

AND
IT LOOKS LIKE BLACK KITTY HAS RINGWORM.

To properly ID it you need a 6 day incubated test...
I'm being punished for something I did in a previous life....
