The very first Mystery Pie was chess pie. I was making pies to take to my niece's house and wanted one more. Looked in my Betty Crocker cookbook and found one that used what I had left in the house (not going to the store with six month old twins). Chess Pie was it and the tradition was born.
It looks delicious anyway anything that includes my three favorite ingredients butter butter and butter has to be delicious, save me a slice. :-) Joy knows that I am a chess pie fanatic and love all its different variant forms like buttermilk or butter chess etc. etc. This makes me want some pie and a couple coffee. Lol

The name of the pie makes it a WIN - regardless of how it tasted!!
XOXOXOXOXO
Let's hear it for Momofuku's Crack pie!!!
Yeah, parsnips pie is scraping the bottom of the pie barrel.
so what's in it?
The pie name is link-ed for all the gory details :-)
But mostly oatmeal, butter, egg yolks, sugar, butter, butter, butter...
Sounds delicious! I had a piece of chess pie yesterday, which I'm not sure exists in its true form outside the South.
