thunders, wind, fires - oh my!

A fast moving lightning storm sparked a bunch of fires here in our corner of the state. At one time the smoke was so thick it obscured the trees next door. One fire was next to The Engineer's nuclear plant. They got it under control and only burned 200 acres. In 2000 we had a fire out there that burned 150,000 acres - you can bet that was on our mind last night.

Abby was forced into the house and not happy about it. There had been a SQUIRREL!!! sighting earlier in the evening and it. was. still. out. there!

I see. And Abby had NOTHING to do with the fires starting? While I detest squirrels, starting a 200 acre fire to bbq the varmints seems like just a bit of overkill.

Hurricanes!
Wildfires!
Bachmann and Perry!

When will it be safe to go outside again?

She has an alibi - she was getting her tummy skritched - she has her weaknesses.

I'm so glad you all are safe, and the plant was unaffected.

And, as an Abby fan, I take umbrage at the suggestions that she may have been responsible for the blaze. Hmph. Abby would, I know this for SURE, have been the first on the bucket brigade. Actually she would have organized it. You know, so she could get back to ridding the world of squirrels.
