The Engineer cooketh

a peach cobbler. In a dutch oven on bbq coals and it was perfectly cooked. Which to me is no mean feat in 90 degree heat. An old family recipe handed down by Granny Krusteaz. Okay, it wasn't that bad, especially if you pair it with a really good vanilla ice cream - which can save almost anything. Hopefully he has the bug to try it with big chunks of ripe peaches next time. I NEVER complain when I'm not doing the cooking!

If he didn't use big chunks of fresh peaches, what did he use?

I've watched a show on the Food Network (I think, can't remember) about folks who enter an annual chuckwagon cooking contest and using dried fruit for their cast iron cobbler. The competition also requires the contestants make biscuits which has got to be tricky.

There is a little tin of peaches in the box. Very little tin.
I'll pass along the dried fruit as that is more in the spirit of what he uses it for - cooking in a campfire.

Yes, don't complain. Just smile and sallow and then smile again!

I had epic fail a couple weeks ago when I tried making peach cobbler. Next time when a recipe calls for self rising flour I will do as it says.

Well it looks delish!! I'll never understand why anyone would want to stand outside in the blazing heat and cook over a flame.
I wonder if anyone has ever taken a Walla walla sweet and tried making some type of dessert?

One of my friends lives in Walla Walla. They just had the WW.Sweet Festival - onion ice cream has been offered from time to time. Did not make an appearance this year. Maybe next year!
