blooming lilies

There are a lot of nutrients in this pond. Good for lilies, good for fishies, frogs, snails and aquatic insects but bad for looks - so I snag the gloppy green floating algae out with a rake every couple days and enjoy the lilies.

I wonder if Van Gogh left out gobs of green algae in his Water Lilies paintings? Still very beautiful. Amazing colors those water lilies. No wonder the frogs like hanging out near them.

I'd look for a snapping turtle and I'd be really, REALLY careful when I did!!!

How pretty! I remember when I was a wee one canoeing at a lake that had tons of lillies in it. We would clip some and float the blooms in a bowl as a center piece.
