update and what we found...

GB and I found this in the furnace room. Anybody care to guess what it is?

This did not hurt as much as it looks as we had already planned to rip up this old ratty carpet.

This hurt a lot, this wood floor is only a year old. They sawed it up.

Downstairs is a disaster. All flooring coming up. The sink cabinet is gone. Tons of stuff moved. Garage is stuffed with all the stuff we emptied out of various rooms. Insurance company on standby. First claim in 21 years. We didn't turn in the last flood.

(The top picture is a bag of potatoes, left in the pitch black, for over a year. The Engineer put them in the furnace room. We know not why....)

Oh my. I'm so sorry. Sending quick fix vibes, and easy drying vibes...

Is it a potato gone wild?

That first picture scared the crap outta me, yet, I cannot look away.

On the other hand, what a mess! Oy!

Mr. Mischief is right, it's a potato with many many eyes.

Really sorry about that wood floor. Ripping up carpet is nasty dirty work. I say let Abby do it.

OMG! I've been through this before! No basement - 3 bedrooms, hall, bathroom, part of living room, and damage to stuff. Didn't have ceiling involved but did have carpet. Bless you! I'm thinking about you and hoping for the best!!
